The garden of this Edinburgh townhouse hadn't been used for years; it was overgrown, damp & very uninviting. The new owners were carrying out extensive renovations to the house and wanted to tackle the garden at the same time. They wanted an area for dining & relaxing outside the new patio doors as well as a more secluded place to sit if space could be found. The lawn was to be removed, and somewhere to grow herbs & salad leaves was also asked for. Influences of the orient were to be included in the form of water, wood & stone. The choice of plants was very important – a scheme of blue, purple and white was to be included.
