So the planting design incorporates a large variety of perennials. The owner was growing her own Ricinus communis and is excellent for providing structural planting.

To tie in with their purple foliage
Eupatorium 'Chocolate', Heuchera 'Obsidan', Sedum 'Purple Emperor' and Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff' were used. Red and dark pink flowers came in the form of Kniphofia, Monarda, Lobelia, Astrantia, Penstemon, Knautia, Sanguisorba and Lobelia cardinalis.

The daisy shaped flowers of Echinacea, Rudbeckia and Helenium bring a variety of dusky pinks, rusty oranges and golden yellows to the mix.  Agastache and Salvia and Asters introduce purple flowers, whilst Verbena bonariensis and Thalictrum provide a dreamy fluffiness to the scheme.
