amelanchier-in-autumnThe clients asked for a variety of plants to be used in their garden - a combination of more contemporary structure was to be mixed with lots of colourful trees, shrubs and herbaceous planting.

So Acer japonica Aconitifolium, Cercis canadensis, Amelanchier and Sorbus hupehensis all provide beautiful autumn colour, whilst the glorious Magnolia 'Susan' has beautiful large, purple tulip-like flowers in late spring. Shrubs include Box balls, Cornus, Cotinus, Daphne, Hebe, Pittosporum, Sambucus and Weigela.

There are a wide range of perennial flowers: Aconitum, Actaea, Anemone, Astrantia, Cirsium, Crocosmia, Digitalis, Echincea, Hydrangea, Iris, Lupin, Penstemon, Salvia, Sedum & Verbascum amongst others.

More contemporary planting can be found in the Astelia, Bamboos, Phormium and Fatsia.

The garden was planted in late summer 2010.
