Initial consultation

At this first meeting we will come and discuss how you would like to use your garden, which current features you'd like to keep or remove, your likes and dislikes as well as wish-list of plants and other features to be included. The

design brief will be confirmed in writing, and once agreed, the design process can begin.

Site survey/analysis

A full set of measurements and photos will be taken of your garden. Soil type, orientation, climate, access, utilities and level changes will all be noted as part of this visit.

Presentation Drawings

A draft scale plan is presented to you for discussion. Choices of materials, garden features and style of planting will also be covered. Once these are approved, the final drawing is completed. A hand drawn colour copy of this is provided for you.

In addition to this plan, other optional drawings can be created if required:

  • 3D drawings (also known as axonometric)
  • sectional elevations showing how the garden will look from various aspects
  • a colour mood board comprising a variety of images indicating features, finishes and planting

Construction/Technical Drawings

Black & white photocopies of the scale plan are made for the contractors. They are also supplied with detailed construction/technical drawings and specifications for materials on which a quotation will be based.

The next stage is to prepare a detailed planting plan showing plant varieties, numbers and placement positions.

This will be used to place and then plant out the garden (either by us or by you if you choose). You will be given a copy of this drawing to keep as well as basic care instructions for your plants.

Further plant care advice and maintenance for your garden can be arranged if required - our Planting Service section contains further information.
